Black, Brown
& Green
Voices

Mission
Black, Brown and Green Voices programs amplify the ways in which people identify with African and Irish ancestry, especially in North America. Part of our mission is also to highlight, for American audiences, the diverse nature of Ireland past and present. Our programs are mounted out of the American non-profit organization African American Irish Diaspora Network (AAIDN), along with other educational and cultural partners, such as New York University, Mary Immaculate College (Limerick) and NYPL Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Most programs are online, publicly accessible interviews.

In this program Professor Harris discusses the flight of African Americans from New York City, especially in the aftermath of the violence of the 1863 New York Draft Riot. This program was presented in collaboration with African American Irish Diaspora Network, New York University and NYPL Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
